Sir,

With reference to previous correspondence in

regard to supplies of narcotic drugs for the League of

Nations Epidemic Commission to China and to the statement

in my letter of December 22nd, 1937, that it is proposed to

lay down in Hong Kong a general stock of medical supplies,

among which might be certain quantities of narcotic drugs,

I have the honour to inform you that certain quantities of

narcotic drugs have been ordered for this purpose and are

now being prepared for shipment to Hong Kong.

Narcotic drugs at present under order are as follows:

(1) Drugs ordered in France from Comar and Co.,20 rue

des Fossés, St. Jacques, Paris:

10,000 ampoules of morphine hydrochloride 0.01 and 20,000 pills of morphine hydrochloride 0.01, con- taining 300 grammes of morphine hydrochloride.

50,000 pills of codeine phosphate 0.02 containing 1 kilogramme of codeine phosphate.

(2) Drugs ordered in Belgium from La Pharmacie centrale

de Belgique, 12 rue du Téléphone, Brussels:

50 kilogrammes tincture of opium P.B.IV in bottles of 1 kilogramme.

These drugs are being shipped together with other medical

supplied consigned to Messrs. Jardine, Matheson and Company,

Ltd., Hong Kong, for account of the League of Nations

Epidemic Commission, China. The drugs will be kept in stock
